Unseen Employee

Thursday was the last day of term so I'm now on holiday until November. Well, I've got to go into work on Thursday but that's not really a problem.

I really was meaning to update the ol' blog yesterday but my computer hasn't been very stable recently. This problem with the graphics card becoming unseated thanks to there being a micro-ATX motherboard loaded with regular ATX components in an ATX tower. I don't want to write all about it but let's just say that I'm pretty much at the end of my tether and despite other things happening (see below), I'm willing to fork out for a replacement motherboard and someone else to install it.

On Thursday everyone was encouraged to attend in fancy dress to enforce the Halloween spirit. I dressed as a ninja. Before you ask, of course there aren't any photos. The students mostly shouted things like omigod! or oh cool a ninja! as well as who is that? At lunch I went to the staff room to get a drink and noticed everyone was staring at me. Apparently a great deal of them were still guessing who was dressed as a ninja. Some people guessed before I took my hood off (height, build, eyes, posture?) and once it was revealed there was a collective oh it's Matt.

It was good fun, there were a lot of very good costumes.

My bike got it's second service today. It was revving very low at tick over but that seems to be remedied. I've also got my proper rear ABS bracket and pannier brackets replaced at last! The only complaint I have is that the mechanics must have changed my clutch's bite point because it's right out now rather than half-way in as before. This will take some getting used to until I can ask them exactly which nut it is that I tighten to get it back.

The big news is I am potentially moving outta here. I've been to see a studio flat in the Marina (a big ship-shaped flats on the seafront of St. Leonards-on-Sea. The only thing about it is the lack of reliable parking. I don't fancy leaving my bike in that area overnight but there is an underground car park with space for motorcycles so I'm going to try for a space there as soon as I know I've got the place. I've already paid my holding deposit and the letting agents are dealing with all the referencing details.

In other news I found that Amazon UK had both Creatures Anathema and Disciples of the Dark Gods for pre-order at a very reasonable price so I snatched them both up along with the Inquisitors Handbook.

Finally I know that Fallout 3 is out this coming Friday. I'm excited about it but depending on how quick the letting agents are I might have to put off buying it for a few days.
