The Versys is riding pretty smoothly. I've done five-hundred-and-something miles on it now so my first service will have to be booked soon. And then I can travel to the lands of 6,000-8,000RPM without worrying about damaging the bike before it has been ridden-in. I doubt I'll really need to take the bike higher than 8,000RPM very often so I'm not going to be trying to rack up the miles to 1k so I can go as high as I like. The bike red-lines at about 10,500RPM and since it picks up it's maximum torque at around 6,500RPM it's not like I'll have to really open the throttle to get it to accelerate. I'll be happy to accelerate swiftly without having to change gear every +10mph the way I am now to avoid going over the advisory ride-in limit, but I don't foresee having to take the revs over 8k on my twenty-five miles-a-day commute or even on my fun runs.
I ordered a bunch of things from Amazon and most of them arrived yesterday. Among the items were some technical pens as my old pen has dried up and the new one I bought from Sussex Stationers bled a lot, therefore useless for precision. Hopefully these new pens will be more efficient.
Anyway, I had also ordered the definitive edition of Kingdom of Heaven from Amazon and watched that last night. It's much longer than the cinema release edition, like LotR-extended-edition long. The "extra" scenes did not feel like throw-away filler material or just extended versions of original scenes, there are other stories that we missed at the cinema.
I have to say, after watching this film again, that this has to be one of my very favourites. I am seriously considering the purchase of this film's soundtrack.
I read somewhere that Orlando Bloom gained some twenty pounds of muscle for the film. Twenty pounds. That's impressive. I think that it is his best role, far better than Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, and (although he was very good in it) Troy. He almost comes across as a different character entirely. In fact, I find it difficult to think of better acting from the cast in any other film.
Fantastic film. If you liked it at the cinema then I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the director's cut, and if you haven't seen it then I'd recommend doing so.
