In my Dark Heresy themed sequential drawings, I'm introducing the apple. The apple is a method of measuring time relative to the story. But more on that as it develops.
The collective name I am thinking of for the stories is "Adrantis Apologues". The Adrantis Nebula is a sub-sector of the Calixis Sector; the setting for most Dark Heresy campaigns. Since I ran my campaign within the Adrantis sub-sector, and the webcomic's stories are tied together by events in the campaign, I thought the name was apt.
Apologues, in short, means stories-with-morals.
If I ever put this webcomic "out there", I'd not do it for financial gain; and the fact that it's all Warty-K based means that I wouldn't be able to gain any revenue from it anyway. Just look at what happened to Turn Signals on a Land Raider. If I wanted to make a Dark Heresy comic for money, I'd have to be employed by Games Workshop, Fantasy Flight Games, or both companies at once. I don't even know how that would work out, and I don't think that either of them are about to offer me a job.
But since little things like Servants of the Imperium seem untouched by often-ridiculous-and-seemingly-draconian copyright laws, I think I'll be all right.
On the flip-side you have people involved in projects like Rooster Teeth's Red vs. Blue (which was fantastic), and they get invited by Bungie to aid publicity, attend events, and even include a Red vs. Blue Easter Eggs in Halo 3.
Besides, I doubt what I have to offer would be as popular as Servants' or Turn Signals'. Especially since I wouldn't be releasing comics on a regular or reliable schedule.
There are webcomics out there that post infrequently or with flexible schedules (VGCats and Order of the Stick come to mind), but their popularity is either down to the comic's writer providing another service to it's fans (a popular forum, video game reviews, thought-provoking material, etc.); or it's just such a good webcomic that the audience is willing to forgive the writer for any delay.
