Summer Plan

I've been sitting and wishing for too long. It's time for me to fulfill my own wishes.

I've wanted to go for a long, long, long walk, an adventure of sorts, since I was very young. Tales of brave adventurers facing the untamed wilderness; with only their backpack, sword, and handful of gold pieces, were ingredients to the hot pot of my imagination when I was growing up. I wanted to try it, I wanted to have an adventure.

I was too young, of course, and didn't have a chance of surviving out on the road (orcs and roadside bandits or no orcs and roadside bandits). I've had the chance to do it for some time now. Working in schools means I still get the summer holidays to myself, give or take a few days. I haven't really used the opportunity except for last year when I rode up to Yorkshire; but that was only for one week.

The plan for this summer is to get my practical driving test out of the way (early August) and then hike my way to Snowdonia, north Wales.

This might be a foolish pull of the romantic imagination, it might be one of the wettest parts of England, and it might be tough to find a route that isn't alongside A-road traffic day and night, but for once I'm going to just throw caution to the wind and try it. I make too many excuses, and build too many safety nets to stop myself from doing things like this.

I'm going to plan, prepare, and prime myself. Perhaps I'll take some stationary and a disposable camera along with the rest of my gear.
