A Novel Idea

I've been trying to write the same book since I was a spotty teenager. I might finally be making a real go for it.

I'm hoping that this wave of inspiration isn't the sort that will just ebb and die. I'd love to finally finish writing a proper story even if it was never to be published.

Although I tried it before, unsuccessfully, I decided to write out a vague plan for the story before I actually knuckled down to any specific chapter. Once I had that, I gradually elaborated on each section by adding more and more detail.

Now when I sit down to work on the story, I am writing, rather than thinking about what to write. Now I have a plan of everything that should be included in the story, I can just work on filling in the details and making the events flow into one another.

That doesn't mean it's going to be simple, or that I'll have it finished any time soon. Depending on how busy things will be this year, I might have finished it by 2011. I don't think I know if I'd want to publish it once it's done; at the moment it's just a story I've been wanting to write for a long time.

I haven't started writing it properly yet, as in: writing it in a format other people could read. It's still in a jumbled planning stage at the moment. However, this is much further than I've ever managed to get before, so it's quite exciting for me. At the very least, it's just one more project to keep me busy.
