Graphophobia

Sunday seems so far away and yet I've so much to do before then. I've got the next Dungeons and Dragons session planned out, it's even written up on my site. But I'm expecting the group to blaze through the finale in Windy Cross and immediately hit the road on the way to Solling which is where the next chapter in our story begins.

Okay, so I expected them to get through the previous adventure pretty quickly too and we ended up playing for longer than expected and didn't begin the final episode. But this time I'm sure they will go beyond my ten page adventure; especially since most of that details what is going on around the PCs and what will happen as an epilogue. A problem with this finale is that I don't feel like the big bad guy has really irked the PCs as much as he should have done. I want them to despise the villain, but I don't want to turn the game into Austin Powers by explaining how he was behind everything as they attempt to elude a painfully-slow-but-easily-escapable situation. Well, we'll see. Perhaps I'm putting too much energy into what will happen once they get to Solling. Because Solling is a large town and not just a riverside village like Windy Cross (where the PCs are right now), there are so many more opportunities for thrilling adventure.

There are a lot of things I could write about D&D right now. For instance, I have two plots that I would like to include in the campaign but if I try to run both side-by-side then neither will get the attention they deserve (by me or the players). I've also got gaps in between adventures where I need to link the sites and hooks but it's proving difficult to lead the story from one place to another without it feeling like a sightseeing tour... with monsters.

Argh. I suppose I just need more time on it. I'll finish writing up what happens between Liberation (adventure 5) and Solling (their next destination) and detail some of the more important people and places the players are likely to run across once they reach Solling. That way I'll be prepared for the next few sessions and still have time to think about how they will get from where they are now, to the end of the story they are set in.

In other news I have my Theory Test tomorrow (Tuesday). I'm fairly confident that I'll pass, as long as there aren't many/any questions on motorways as I've not even had a single lesson yet and I've never been on a motorway before.
