I had forgotten so much.
The sound of the engine, the lightness of the handling, the size and presence of the machine on the road, the heat coming off the gearbox, the smell of burned ozone around the exhaust after a long ride, the comfiness of the seat, the smooth response of the clutch...
That's right, I've got my Versys back!
It's rediculous that it took this long. I missed an entire summer's riding and got my bike back on the very last day of my holiday... when it was raining. If there is a greater power or deity controlling the universe, they are going to get seven shades of whatever they excrete beaten out of them when I get to the afterlife. But at least I've got my wings back and can fly again. I missed it so much.
The ABS bracket still hasn't arrived. No. Not yet. Instead some dolt decided to send a pump bracket instead. Good job. So the guys at the garage fixed me up a functional but temporary ABS bracket and fitted it to the back wheel where it is supposed to go. Maybe it was from a Ninja or something? Whatever, right now I'm not asking questions. The ABS bracket has been reordered and I'm also waiting for the pannier brackets to arrive so they can be replaced.
The road conditions have been horrific so far. This morning and this afternoon the A21 and the Ridge were both covered in diesel. The whole way to Robertsbridge. Twelve miles of hell. Of paranoia. Of spending more time studying the ground to avoid the rainbow-coloured patches of death rather than keeping an eye on the traffic or road ahead.
Work has also been incredibly busy. New students, new staff, new problems, new SIMS server, and who-knows what else. Busy, busy, busy.
And I'm right back to it tomorrow morning so I'll cut this short for now.
