Forward March

It was Sam's birthday on Friday. I got him a voucher to spend in Gedges so he can get a helmet to go with his new bike. He's twenty. It still doesn't seem real. It doesn't seem real that I'm going to be twenty-three this year. There is no rite of passage, there are no milestones or markers. I don't feel like an adult. I would guess that my interpretation of adulthood was deeply flawed.

I drew a picture of Darius, the acolytes' hander in my Dark Heresy campaign.

He has become a mysterious and creepy character for the players. They don't know if they can trust him or rely on him. But at the moment he might be preferable to working directly under the Interrogator or the Inquisitor himself.

The creepy and mysterious traits came to a head when he developed some sort of incredibly brief schizophrenia. The players don't know what to think or how to react. This week,Nick said "I hate it when they smile..." when he spotted me grinning over my notes during the game.

Sam's character got hit by a point-blank burst fire from a compact autopistol loaded with armour-piercing rounds. He got hit by six bullets and lost a finger as a result. He would have lost the whole hand if he hadn't burned a Fate Point to keep it. Now both characters are on 1 Fate Point each. Awesome. Well, not awesome for the characters, but it's awesome for the players because they are feeling much more mortal. The fact that they don't have any Malignancies, Mutations, or Disorders is proof of my mercy right? I'm not out to get the players or their characters.

Matt couldn't make it to the game on Sunday though, which makes it two games in a row. Hopefully he'll be able to attend the coming session.

Nick, Nicola, Richard, and Sam have all gotten into Urban Dead (or, in Nick's case, back into Urban Dead). Of course, they urged me to get back into it as well. Fine. I suppose. It doesn't take a lot to get into. My character has, of course, been dead for years and is lying in a gutter or a skip somewhere.

I've got my first battle going on in Picture Wars. If you want to check it out, here's the linkage.
