Since John has been off sick all this week, I've been working two jobs at once. My mum said "at least you're not bored" but I'm not bored at work because I don't have anything to do; I'm bored because my job is very tedious.
I've been so tired (and hungry) after work this week that I don't actually have any notes for Dark Heresy this weekend. I'd like to jump into a very quick D&D game (using 3d6 instead of a d20 - there are guidelines for this in Unearthed Arcana) because it would take next to no planning at all to do... only I feel that the guys are really getting into the Dark Heresy campaign's storyline and I'd be cheating them as they get closer and closer to solving the mysteries surrounding them.
I guess I'll talk to the guys about it on Sunday. Very, very last minute stuff. I guess you could say that I'm ashamed. It's my duty as the GM to provide the set pieces, NPCs, encounters, and plot hooks for my players. Things have just gotten on top of me this week.
I have found some time (mostly during quiet phases at work, few and far between though they have been) to draw characters and the like for my Picture Wars army. I'm going for an army of fiends inspired by D&D devils, also known as Baatezu. So far I've got all the troops drawn except the Pit Fiend, but since Pit Fiends will be my "Titan" unit, I doubt I'll be using it much when I get round to playing the game.
I also have to work on structures. At the moment I've got a hellwasp nest and that's it. I'll need to create portals for the fiends to spawn through, and hellgates for the hard-hitters to use. Then decoration like burned-down trees, razor sharp rocks, and blackened skulls... you know, the little things that make a house a home. Home for infernal beasts that hunger for mortal souls at least.
After I've created the Baatezu, I'll post the sprite sheet here and write a page for them on the Picture Warpedia before playing a match with them. When I get a match, I'll post the link to it along with any updates.
I was also thinking of a parasitic army that would infect enemy troops and have models based on what other armies look like. It would be quicker to create, perhaps more difficult to field (especially against robots or more original armies), and would require a lot of time in between turns to render "corrupted" versions of my opponent's army, but it would be interesting to play. There are "fungus" armies, but I don't think there are any "infection" armies that use tainted enemy troops as combatants. I suppose you could create an army of poltergeists that possess enemy troops; or a hive mind thing that mentally controls servitors on the enemy's side. Oh! Oh! Infiltrator sleeper-agent units that look and behave just like everyone else until I decide to attack from within! Well I guess I just opened a whole can of worms.
Oh yeah! Last night I had a dream about being shot in the back. It was odd, as you can imagine, and thoroughly unpleasant. I've been having vivid dreams lately.
Oh yeah (Mk. II)! I was thinking about writing for a Halo RPG. I don't know what rule system to use, but Nick and I spoke briefly about it and perhaps, since it supposedly deals with anything and everything, GURPS might be worth a try. I'll have to get my hands on a GURPS GM book.
