Headhunter

Last night I had another go at those scarabs. Did it first time. I didn't know that you could destroy a scarab's rear armour plating. I thought that disabling a leg just allowed you to get inside the mechanical beast so you could destroy the power core from within. I didn't know that sustained damage to the rear armour of a scarab would reveal the power core, thus allowing you to attack it directly from outside. So I managed to down both scarabs with ease when I found this out by accident (I was trying to get missiles from my hornet to fly through a tiny gap and hit the power core, damaging it with their blast radius).

So in Halo 3 I'm just trying to get all the skulls. It's a shame you have to play on line to get a lot of the achievements, I don't really feel like paying another Internet service charge to play multi player when I'm already contributing monthly to a broadband connection. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad if the way XBox Live! works was altered a little.

I didn't get much done last night. Once I get home, cook dinner, and eat, there is generally only a couple of hours left before I have to hit the sack. Since my PC is still waiting to be picked up I can't scan in any sketches to colour them, I can't compile any D&D notes, I can't start writing creatively, and I can't try any of the newer games I bought along with my new PC (Dreamfall, Call of Juarez, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.). So for entertainment I'm reading the first book in The Edge Chronicles which I read back when I was in secondary school and enjoyed tremendously, and collecting the skulls in Halo 3.

So I don't feel like I'm getting anything done. Which is frustrating.

Oh, and I caught wind of Battlefield: Heroes which, to me, looks just like the kind of game I'd like to play. Something with oversized, slapstick comedy in it. And if EA can pull off the promise in their trailer about "Not getting shot in the face by a swearing 15 year old expert who plays the game all day" then even better. I just need my PC to be fixed before I can think about indulging.

And yes, I think that playing a game for free is cool, that's one of the reasons why I loved Guild Wars so much (and still do). And I also think that an organic, changing game is also a fantastic idea. I really hope this one lifts off smoothly and plays well.
